During squad carnival term our swimmers learn to swim both as individuals and in a team environment. Squad Carnival Term is a fun term which culminates in our famous annual squad carnival. At the squad carnival the swimmers compete in heats based on age and swim times. At the end of the program we run our relay events.
During the team relay events all the different squad teams cheer and support their team (it does get very noisy). It is a great bonding event for the kids. Towards the end of the day we run the parent/child relays (which is a fantastic family event). The swimmers finally get to have a swim off against their coaches in the coaches versus kids relays (yes - it is handicapped).
To conclude the day the overall age group champions are awarded their medals and the winning squad team is announced. All the competitors receive a ribbon in every event. By the days end, it's great to see smiling, proud faces with chests covered in ribbons.
